How are At-home Tasso+ Capillary Blood Tests taken?
Taking an At-home Tasso+ Blood Test is easy and convenient. Just follow the simple steps below. Full instructions will be included in your test kit.
Only collect your sample Monday to Thursday and post same day before noon. Please avoid taking your sample on or close to public holidays.
Please be aware that the blood test you are purchasing is intended for personal use only and should not be given to another individual. The results of this blood test will be uploaded to your Numan account. Therefore, providing this test to another individual could result in a breach of medical data sharing.
Step 1: Get prepared
You should set aside around 20 minutes first thing in the morning before you have eaten to complete the whole process, especially if it’s your first time taking a blood sample at home. We recommend having a normal evening meal the night before, and drinking plenty of water (2 glasses) in the morning ahead of taking your sample. This will ensure the most accurate results and avoid any fainting or dizziness.
Seeing the sight of your own blood can also make some people feel dizzy or faint. If you think this could happen to you, we advise taking the test in a comfortable, safe environment and ask someone to assist you in taking your sample. We recommend wearing a sleeveless shirt or a t-shirt with sleeves that can be rolled up above the shoulder.
To get your blood flowing, go for a brisk walk, do a few jumping jacks, or maybe take a hot bath - whatever works for you.
Step 2: Set up
Lay your kit out on a low table, so you can stand and have your hand below your elbow – gravity helps your blood flow.
Wash your hands with soap and warm water.
Rub the upper section of your non-dominant arm up and down for 2 minutes. Then clean the same area with an alcohol swab. Ensure the shoulder is dry before attaching the Tasso+ device.
Step 3: Assembly
Remove the Tasso+ device from the tray.
Open the blood collection tube by twisting off its cap.
With fill lines facing out, insert the tube into the Tasso+ device, ensuring it’s secure.
Step 4: Sample collection
Remove the tab and cover from the red button on the Tasso+ device.
Attach the device to your shoulder and press the button until it clicks. It may take up to a minute to start filling the tube.
Allow tube to fill. Remove the Tasso+ device if blood reaches the neck of the tube before 5 minutes pass.
Step 5: Removing and mixing
Gently remove the device by peeling from one side.
Remove the tube with a slight twist and pull down. Secure the tube’s cap by pressing firmly until you hear it click.
Apply pressure to the area with a sterile dry swab to stop any bleeding, wash hands and apply a plaster.
Gently invert the tube at least 10 times without shaking.
You do not need to worry if the blood looks like it hasn't mixed.
Step 6: Send your sample
Secure the sample in the provided packaging:
Place the blood collection tube into the transportation tube and press firmly to close.
Place the transportation tube into the pathoseal bag and seal by removing the metallic silver strip.
Ensure the sample collection details on the Instructions For Use leaflet are filled in.
Insert the sealed pathoseal bag and the Instructions For Use leaflet into the box provided and place the box into the large UN3373 return envelope.
Seal the envelope by removing the metallic silver strip
