Will I be on a maintenance dose?

A maintenance dose is the dose you stay on long term, instead of continuing to go up or down.

Your clinician will keep checking how your body is responding, how your weight is changing and whether you're getting side effects. If a different dose would suit you better, they can change it.

Your first month of Mounjaro is 2.5mg. After that, your dose goes up automatically every 4 weeks: 5mg in month 2, 7.5mg in month 3 and 10mg in month 4. You'll then stay on 10mg as your maintenance dose unless you and your clinician agree on a different dose.

If you started Mounjaro before 6 October 2026, your default maintenance dose is 5mg. You'll stay on 5mg unless you ask to change it. To move up, fill in our dose change questionnaire and a clinician will review it.

Each patient's response to Mounjaro may differ, so our clinicians are dedicated to finding the dosage that works best for you.

You can ask to change your dose at any point. That includes going higher than 10mg, or staying on a lower dose instead of moving up automatically. Just fill in our dose change questionnaire and a clinician will review it. If you want to go higher, we can increase your dose by 2.5mg every 4 weeks until you reach your next maintenance dose.
