Follow these steps to ensure your results are accurate and reliable.
We also recommend the same guidance for the basic blood test.
1. Stop testosterone boosters two weeks before your test
It’s important to pause any over the counter testosterone boosters so we can measure your true baseline and ensure your results aren’t falsely elevated.
Common boosters include Ashwagandha and Tongkat Ali, while supplements such as Zinc, Magnesium, and Vitamin D may also increase testosterone levels. If you’re unsure, or need to reschedule your test, please contact our Patient Support Team for assistance.
2. Avoid high-intensity exercise for 48 hours before your test
This includes weightlifting, HIIT workouts (like sprinting), and sexual activity, all of which can temporarily raise testosterone levels. These activities can also falsely elevate PSA levels, a prostate health biomarker which is included in our comprehensive test.
3. Book your appointment before 11am
Testosterone levels are typically highest in the early morning and gradually decrease throughout the day. To ensure the most accurate results, we recommend scheduling your appointment before 11am.
4. Stay well hydrated
Drink plenty of water the night before and on the morning of your test. This helps improve blood flow, making it easier to collect your sample.
5. Fast before your test
Do not eat or drink anything except water for at least 8 hours before your test. This includes tea, coffee, and other hot beverages. Fasting ensures accurate testosterone and cholesterol results.
6. Do not take your own sample
Blood samples must be collected by a member of our clinical team to ensure safety and validity. Samples taken outside of our service cannot be accepted.
