What is 'off-label' prescribing?
What is 'off-label' prescribing?
Updated over a week ago

If you’re prescribed Rybelsus and Ozempic for weight management then this is what’s known as ‘off-label’ prescribing. This means that the medication is prescribed for a purpose that differs from that described in the license. This happens when experts have noted the benefits of taking the medication for an alternative purpose, but the manufacturer hasn’t yet extended the license for this alternative purpose. The active ingredient, semaglutide, is already prescribed for weight loss under different brand names and formulations.

Our clinicians will only prescribe an off-label medication if they believe it is safe and effective for you to take.
