Yes, you can travel with weight loss medications like Wegovy and Mounjaro, but there are important steps to take to make sure your medication remains safe and effective while you’re away.
Injection storage and temperature
Before use, your pens must be stored in the fridge between 2°C and 8°C. Once opened, they can be kept at room temperature, but not above 30°C.
Mounjaro can be kept out of the fridge for up to 30 days, provided it’s stored in a cool place, including portable coolers. Wegovy pens can be kept out of the fridge in a cool space for 28 days. If your pens are exposed to higher temperatures, they may become less effective and should be safely discarded using your sharps bin.
To protect your pens while travelling:
Store them in their original packaging.
Use a medical cooler to maintain a safe temperature in transit.
Never freeze your medication.
Keep it out of the reach of children.

Oral pill storage and temperature
Unlike injections, the Wegovy Pill does not require refrigeration in transit or at home. The tablets must remain in their original blister packs, which contain an integrated desiccant.
To protect your medication while travelling:

Do not cold-pack it.

Keep it in its original packaging. Do not decant tablets into pill planners or pill cases.
Before you travel
Some countries require documentation for prescription medications, so check the entry requirements for your destination. You may need a letter explaining your treatment. Numan can provide a copy of your prescription to help you through airport security. Verify the requirements with the embassy or relevant authorities before travelling.
Always carry your medication in your hand luggage. Ensure it is packaged appropriately and have your medical note available in case a travel officer asks to see it. This avoids exposure to extreme temperatures in the cargo hold.
Plan your doses
Make sure you take enough medication for the duration of your trip. Wegovy and Mounjaro injections are usually taken once a week, so count how many doses you’ll need in advance.
The Wegovy Pill is taken daily and comes in a 30-day supply, unlike weekly injectable plans, which follow a 28-day cycle.
If you’re going to be away for longer than a month, speak to your Numan clinician or pharmacist to explore your prescription options.
Managing deliveries while you’re away
You can update your delivery address to a temporary location within the UK or reschedule deliveries around your travel plans. This can help you avoid missing treatment while you’re away.
You may also request additional pens to cover your trip. The maximum supply is:
Three pens of the same dose.
Two pens of different doses if you are titrating.
These requests may require approval from the clinical team.
⚠️ Your dose cannot be adjusted while you are away. Refunds are not available for unused pens bought at a higher dose, so discuss your travel plans and dosing needs with the clinical team before ordering additional medication.
