If your Wegovy order arrived without an ice pack or cool packaging, don't worry. This is intentional, and your medication is still safe and effective to use.
What's changed?
In April 2026, the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) approved an update to the product information for Wegovy® (semaglutide) FlexTouch® pens. Wegovy can now be delivered to patients at temperatures of up to 30°C for up to 48 hours, removing the need for full cold-chain packaging during the final delivery stage from our pharmacy to your door.
This makes Wegovy the first GLP-1 weight management treatment in the UK to be approved for delivery without strict cold-chain requirements.
Is my Wegovy still safe to use?
Yes. The medication itself hasn't changed, only the delivery rules have. Wegovy has been proven to remain stable and effective at temperatures up to 30°C for up to 48 hours, which is more than enough time for it to reach you safely.
We continue to dispatch your order quickly and in protective packaging so it arrives in the best possible condition.
What should I do when my Wegovy arrives?
Once your delivery arrives, please:
Put your unopened pen(s) in the fridge (between 2°C and 8°C) as soon as possible
Keep them in the original carton to protect them from light
Do not freeze. Frozen pens must be discarded, even if they look fine after thawing
Storage rules after delivery (these haven't changed)
Before first use:
Store in the fridge between 2°C and 8°C until the expiry date, or
Keep at room temperature (below 30°C) for up to 28 days
Once you start using a pen:
Keep in the fridge or at room temperature (below 30°C)
Use within 6 weeks of first use
Always keep your pen away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and the cooling element at the back of your fridge.
Will the new packaging fit through my letterbox?
While the new unchilled delivery box is about half the size of our previous packaging, the dimensions of the medication boxes themselves mean it will still not fit through a standard letterbox. Please ensure someone is available to receive the delivery or that you have a safe place designated with the courier.
Does this apply to Mounjaro too?
No, this change only applies to Wegovy. Mounjaro (tirzepatide) still requires cold-chain delivery, so your Mounjaro orders will continue to arrive with cool packaging as usual.
Why we've made this change
Removing the need for ice packs and insulated packaging on every Wegovy delivery means:
Less packaging waste, reducing the environmental impact of your treatment
More reliable deliveries, since simpler logistics mean fewer things can go wrong in transit
