Why is weight verification needed?
Why is weight verification needed?
Updated over a month ago

You might be wondering why we're asking you to verify your weight through photos before prescribing weight management medication. Let's walk through why this step is crucial and how it helps us treat you effectively.

Ensuring Safe Treatment

Before we can prescribe your weight management medication, it is necessary for our clinicians to verify your eligibility. This process is a clinical safety requirement that allows our clinicians to confirm your suitability for treatment. By reviewing a couple of recent photos that you provide, our clinicians can ensure the treatment plan prescribed is both safe and effective for you.

You must complete the weight verification step for your treatment to be prescribed.

Step-by-Step: How to verify your weight

We've made weight verification as simple and convenient as possible through our app. Here’s how you can do it:

  • We need two photos of you, one from the front and one from the side.

  • Use a mirror or timer: This helps avoid angles and distortions.

  • Coverage: The photos should be from at least the neck to the knees. No need to include your face.

  • Appropriate clothing: Wear clothes that outline your shape.
Avoid loose clothing, photos in active wear would be best. Please do not send photos that contain nudity. These will not be accepted for review and you may miss out on your treatment.

  • Lighting: Ensure the photos are clear and taken in a well-lit area.

  • Solo shots only: ensure no one else is in the photo.

If you prefer not to or are unable to download the Numan App, you can still complete the weight verification process through your web browser. Simply log into your Numan account on the website, navigate to 'Verify Your Weight,' and follow the on-screen instructions. This will guide you through the process step-by-step, ensuring a smooth and easy verification experience without the need for the app

Should you encounter any issues, please contact our customer care team at [email protected] for assistance.

Alternatives if you're not comfortable sending photos

Your photos will only be reviewed by a clinician, to determine treatment needs. If you prefer not to send photos, you can:

  • Visit your GP or local Pharmacy: You can have your weight taken at your GP or local pharmacy. This must be taken within the last three months. The record must have a date and be on headed paper or have a pharmacy stamp. You can then upload the picture of the record on the app.

Commitment to Your Privacy

We understand the sensitivity of submitting personal photos. Please be assured that these images are handled with the utmost respect and confidentiality and are accessed only by healthcare professionals involved in your care. We do not share your photos publicly or use them for any promotional purposes. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for more information on how your data is stored.
